Safeway Foundation

Eureka, CA, February 27, 2012 –Vector Physical Therapy & Aquatic Center is proud to announce that it has received a $10,000 grant from The Safeway Foundation on behalf of the employees of the Northern California Division. The award will benefit the Vector Special Needs Aqua Therapy Program, allowing developmentally disabled children and young adults to participate in warm water therapy treatment.
Vectorwill use the grant to help fund the Special Needs Aqua Therapy Program, re-establishing warm water therapy treatment, after Easter Seals closed its doors two years ago, effectively displacing 130 special needs pool users. With support from area agencies, organizations and national foundations, Vector has embraced the challenge of bringing back this vital community resource and expects over 400 visits by children and young adults, an increase of 33%, through community collaborations with Glen Paul Special Day School, Redwood Coast Regional Center (RCRC) and Butler Valley.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to be chosen by The Safeway Foundation to receive this grant, especially on the heels of the Reeve Foundation Quality of Life Grant award,” said Bill Ruff, Vector Chief Executive Officer. “To be recognized in such a way for all of the hard work that has been put into the new Vector Physical Therapy and Aquatic Center, is humbling.”
